猪脚姜
13 March 2010. This afternoon, I called home. Dad answered the phone and said Mum was at Soon Seng's place. Wan Chin has just given birth to her 4th baby girl. Dad said mum has cooked 猪脚姜 in black vinegar for Wan Chin and said it tasted very good. He liked it too. I said "Wow, mother also knows how to make this dish!". Dad replied "There's instruction on the bottle of vinegar, just follow." and he proceeded to tell me the process. He described how he has to help Mum with the preparation, cooking etc as Mum could not handle it all by herself and Dali (our domestic helper) did not know how to help. Listening to him on the phone, I felt a great sense of happiness. Imagining how my parents worked together to produce a gift in celebration of the birth of their granddaughter. I thank God for granting this joy and peace to my family.
